Winter Frictional Static Electric Machine

Initial test setup.  Even crude, makes more than 1" sparks in the dead of summer!
Note that in flash photos everything looks covered in snow.  That's because its a WINTER machine.
Actually I am using reflective aluminum spheres, 20 micron, from Dan.  They're used by NASA
in reflective paint, and are barely visible to the naked eye.  Take a flash photo and GEEZ!!

Mahogany ring collectors - no nails yet.  But they work!

This earlier form did not work.  Wood is too conductive for the upright post on the copper sphere.
